Riyadh – Mubasher: The general Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Saudi Arabia recorded a decrease of 0.1% in January 2020 compared to the previous month.
This is mainly attributed to an 0.6% decline in the prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, while the clothing and footwear section and the communication section prices went down by 0.4% and 0.3%, respectively, compared to December 2019.
On an annual basis, the index saw an increase of 0.4% compared to its reading in January of last year, according to the General Authority for Statistics (GaStat).
Although the previously mentioned sections also recorded a decline on an annual basis, restaurants and hotels, and miscellaneous goods and services both increased by 3.2% and 3.1%, respectively.
